We implemented a Voice Over IP system for a client moving out of ‘serviced’ accommodation in the centre of Exeter. In these environments, the phone system is usually provided by the landlord; who would have a sequential range of DDI numbers – e.g.: 01202 403001 to 01202 403999. Until very recently, it has not been possible to port one single number out of the block without taking them all. The client had a requirement to maintain one existing number, whilst adding several direct dial numbers to their system.
We were engaged to design and implement a new phone system, and in working with the client, we provided them with our Cloud Voice platform, along with a substantial call package of free UK Landline and Mobile Calls, meaning substantially lower phone bills.
As well as this, the client [along with each named user] now has access to their own management portal, meaning they can route their calls how they want; any time of day or night and if business needs change. On top of this, in the event of a disaster affecting their premises, calls can be rerouted to mobiles or users can log in remotely with the softphone application – ensuring a disaster does not become a catastrophe.
We have a range of handsets to offer with our Cloud Voice platform, from entry level Polycom VVX’s 300 desktop phones, up to the executive Yealink T48. We also support a range of DECT phones, such as Yealink’s stunning W56H – a conference phone in a cordless! We’ve also got specialist products like 2N Doorphone’s and Cisco ATA’s, to allow legacy analogue devices to connect to our Cloud Voice platform and leading to an analogue phone line free zone. And if that’s still not enough, we’ve also got special Conference Phones, like the Yealink CP920, that can mean rooms of people can easily communicate with other rooms.
For this client, we worked with them to understand their needs and drivers, and we supplied and installed a number of Yealink W56 handsets, with a Yealink RT30 repeater; the ability to not be chained to a desk was a key factor, so we ensured their cordless handsets would work throughout their space.
We worked with BT Wholesale to support the porting process and were able to migrate the phone numbers they wished to keep out of their landlord’s block of DDIs. We’ve come across many companies that have lost their phone numbers moving out of serviced accommodation; the loss of an inbound phone number for any business can be a nightmare! We were delighted for this client, that we were able to move their numbers with them.
